And before you say "I will make sure my girlfriend or partner follows the rules and returns!", realise that they don't know you or your girlfriend at all! And they don't want her added to the already 80,000+ unlawful in Australia if she runs off. It's nothing personal! Again, they don't know either of you and they get lied-to by visa applicants every single day!

So only a very solid visa application stands any chance of success, or you may face a tragic visa refusal. And there is little that is so heartbreaking as hearing your sweetheart may not enter Australia to be with you.
